I wasn t sure what to expect.... - But, I was very pleasantly surprised. Not to say that I didn t think it would be good. I love Atmosphere, and have nearly all of their songs, singles, LP s, EP s, you name it and because of that, I do not know what to expect from them. There is a lot of diversity from this CD. The lyrics alone could make the CD and the beats as well can hold their own. Everything is so fluid with his rhymes and when you LISTEN to his words he creates some very vivid pictures for you. My personal favorite track on this CD is Carry Me Home. The beat and vocal sample were cut from Rivers of My Fathers by Gil Scott-Heron, which by the way is also an amazing song. Back to the track, it s very personal to Slug. I think this is where he is at his best, relating his own stories and emotions. Anyways, solid track, from a solid CD. Buy it. You won t be disappointed.
Too bad it s only 5 songs... - Here s what I expect from Atmosphere: beats, rhymes, alcohol, and women. This EP has it all. Here s how I break it down:Less One 4.5/5 - story of a dysfunctional copGood Daddy 4/5 - punchline is a bit muchCarry Me Home 4.5/5 - great hook, oddly enough it s the title track for LemonsHappymess 4.5/5 - It s got beat, lyrics, relationships..it d be the best track on the EP except for...Not Another Day 5/5 - beat, lyrics, painting pictures with words, develops characters in a 3 minute track.I came to the party late. My first Atmosphere disc was You Can t Imagine...The Arrival is my kind of song. This EP is the best blend between that hard style and the softer style from When Life Gives You Lemons...It s hard to keep Lemons out of this review because they were all developed together. Overall, a great EP. Personally, I m going to set up all 4 EPs (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring) as an album on my MP3. I ve got a feeling it s going to flow.
